  1. Can you tell us what kind of Azaleas these are? I remember a docent telling me something unusual about the original cultivar – but can’t remember the story. And, are these the original white azaleas?

  2. Rhododendron mucronatum. The azaleas were probably planted in the 1920′s. I’m not sure of the story the docent was relaying. I was reading the plant book from Beatrix Farrand and she stated, “…that the azaleas should be controlled so that the little Star and its seats are not sunk at the bottom of a tall Azalea.”…
