In memory of the copper beech

The copper beech outside the Fountain Terrace has been declining for years due to a fungal disease. It has now been removed and only a large stump is left. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to count the rings to find out exactly how old it was. A replacement, a young beech tree, was planted a few years ago, but we will have to wait a long time to have it again in its former glory.
